Emerging Collectors

Starting out as an art collector can be challenging. There is so much to see and learn. You visit museums. Travel to art fairs, auctions and galleries to see what other collectors are buying. You speak with curators, artists and collectors you admire. You develop your tastes. Set your budget.

You make your first purchase: an edgy, mixed media work of art made out of sheet music, lace and texture paste for $50,000. A good way to protect your investment is by contacting Huntington T. Block. We are as passionate as you about art, and can provide advice on how to protect your treasures.

Why choose Huntington T. Block for your Fine Art Insurance?

At Huntington T. Block, we share your enthusiasm for art.  Our in-house brokers, claims professionals and underwriters are immersed in the world of art.  They subscribe to trade publications, visit exhibitions, and interact with dealers, collectors and artists.  They excel at helping protect your collection down to the finest detail, and are your strongest advocate with the insurance industry.

Our Fine Art Insurance is our work of art.  It’s been carefully crafted with professional associations like the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and with the input of insurance leaders in the London market.  Our goal:  protect your treasures no matter where they are in the world, whether it is on a wall in Manhattan, a truck to Chicago or a plane to Paris.

What does HTB’s Fine Art Insurance cover?

Our Fine Art Insurance provides broad “all risk” coverage.  This is a widely used insurance term, meaning that all perils are covered, except what the policy specifically excludes.  Typical policy exclusions for personal collectors include:  war, nuclear hazard, moths, vermin and gradual deterioration.

Coverage may be on a ‘scheduled’ or ‘blanket’ basis.  Under a schedule each piece of artwork is individually listed and insured for a stated amount.  A blanket allows collectors to cover their collection with an overall policy limit.  (See Scheduled vs. Blanket Coverage on our Fine Art Insurance page for more details.)

Coverage Territory

Coverage is provided for your artwork worldwide, including while in transit, whether by vehicle, express shipper, boat or plane.
